Terms of Business Training Courses


Booking a place on a course is your commitment to attend the course and constitutes an acceptance of our terms of business. The person booking the course is liable to pay the full amount of the course, which is payable immediately in order to guarantee your place. Payment can be made by cheque payable to Michael Dean Photography or by BACS sort Code- 60-60-05 a/c 98903934.

Any booking discounts apply to course packages otherwise normal stated cost of the course applies.

We prefer to communicate with you by email with attachments where possible. If you are unable to supply us with an email address, we will use normal post.

Although handouts are provided for most courses they may not cover everything in a course, time is allowed for personal note taking.

Some courses or parts of a course may involve walking or physical exertion, i.e. carrying camera equipment. It is the responsibility of the person booking or attending the course to enquire on the degree of physical exertion required. It is assumed that by joining the course you accept responsibility for and are capable of the required exertion.

Courses or parts of courses delivered on location will have a risk assessment in place, but we ask you to be aware and exercise due caution on location, especially when navigating rough terrain, steps or photographing in public places. We will endeavour to point out site specific hazards and ask you to ensure your own personal well-being whilst with us.

Clients with special needs or requirements MUST advise us BEFORE the event so that appropriate measures can be taken. There is wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities at some of our training venues, but courses including outdoor activity are likely to encounter steps, gradients and other physical barriers.

There maybe some occasions when on an outdoor courses it may be necessary to decant indoors in the case of sudden bad weather, if an outdoor course has to be curtailed due to inclement weather after the course has begun, no refunds for the course will be available. Only courses cancelled as outlined in Course Cancellation below carry refunds.

In the case of participants being under the age of 18, the booking must be agreed by a parent or carer and for some courses, we shall ask for a minor to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

In the case of courses were we supply models for portraiture shoots, or if shooting on location either inside or outside of a property. We ask that if you use the photographs of our models on your website or in display, that their names are not divulged. You are the owner of Copyright in all images you take on our courses, but the images of persons or property, which you shoot are for your personal folio use only. They may be entered into competitions, placed on your web sharing sites and displayed in exhibition, but they should not be used for any commercial purposes.

Clients are totally responsible for the safety of their camera and all other equipment brought to the course by them. No claims for loss or damage, however caused, will be entertained by Michael Dean Photography. Clients should ensure that camera bags etc. are weatherproof.

We may offer you the opportunity to use some of our equipment whilst on your course if you do not have your own. There will be no charge for the loan, but you undertake to look after this kit whilst it is in your care, to return it at the time agreed and are responsible for its condition. Loss or damage will be fully charged to you.

We do not accept responsibility for death, injury or illness caused to a client whilst on a course unless this can be proven to have arisen from negligence on the part of Michael Dean Photography. Any claims shall be subject to English law in respect of any question of liability and any proceedings will be in the exclusive domain of the English courts.

It shall be the responsibility of the client to arrange adequate and appropriate insurance against the risk of any loss or damage to equipment or injury to themselves or others whilst on the course.

Course Cancellation

For Courses lasting 3 weeks and shorter
Courses can be cancelled up to 7 days before it is due to start. A full refund is given when cancelled 14 days prior to the start date, minus a cancellation charge of £15 for each place booked. When cancelled up to 7 days in advance a 50% refund is given, plus a cancellation charge of £15 for each place booked. Less than seven days in advance no refunds are given.

For Courses longer than 3 weeks
Courses can be cancelled up to 14 days before it is due to start. A full refund is given when cancelled 28 days prior to the start date, minus a cancellation charge of £15 for each place booked. When cancelled up to 14 days in advance a 50% refund is given, plus a cancellation charge of £15 for each place booked. Less than fourteen days in advance no refunds are given.

For All Courses
Should you wish to be transferred to a future course the same policy applies unless we can find a replacement for your seat and we will only charge you the relevant cancellation charge for administrative purposes. All deposits are non-refundable. Please note that special offers or discounts cannot be transferred to another course. We are unable to give a refund or offer a transfer to another course in case of illness or for any other reason you might be unable to attend.

Michael Dean Photography reserves the right to cancel a course if the required number of places has not filled. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a course a full refund or transfer is offered. Note: Our liability for inconvenience caused by course cancellation is limited to a complete refund of monies tendered or transfer

In the unlikely event of a client not feeling that a course has come up to their reasonable expectations, they must inform us WHILST ON THE COURSE so that appropriate action can be taken.

We will retain your details for our records only. We will keep you informed of future events that are likely to be of interest to you. We will not disclose this information to any third party.

We may take photos as a record of your day which we will email to you for your own use. We may also use them in our training/promotional material, website, Facebook page or other appropriate photo sharing website. If you have any objection to this, please inform us in writing.

Gift vouchers are available from £20 and are valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
